Accelerated Onboarding
Problem
A well capitalized startup with ambitious expansion plans was looking to reduce employee onboarding from 6-weeks down to 2-weeks while accelerating new hire performance.
Solution
I started by carefully analyzing the existing training content, onboarding process, job requirements, and performance expectations.
I trimmed down the content, keeping the most essential elements and restructured the sequence of instruction for optimal retention.
Next, I refreshed the style and branding of all training documents.
I modified the training to incorporate a blended/multi-modality approach that allowed for more real-world practice and time with peer mentors.
Then I created additional resources to support the learning process: job aids, quick reference guides, on-the-job learning checklists, and more.
Finally, I created a series of self-paced courses to review important information, assess knowledge transfer, and communicate supplemental information.
Macon Method
This solutions is right out of the Macon Method playbook:
Core Element: People
Strategic Element: Train
Overview: Facilitate a robust onboarding program that combines blended learning, equipping employees with a firm foundation to build upon.
Outcome
I successfully reduced the onboarding to 2-weeks and doubled new hire sales performance within the first 60-days.
